Character Name: The Piffle Princess Clerk
Gender: Male
Bio: The Clerk is the most senior member of the Piffle Princess Team. He's almost always at the front desk, although during rush hours he can often be found behind the Café counter, trying to keep the Waitress from blowing the place up. He's eternally grumpy and hates "young'uns," especially hyper, loud ones. He speaks with an Osaka accent (written as a Southern accent).
The Clerk is responsible for the store as a whole, and manages sign-ups for Tournaments and the Practice and Angel Layers; he's also a talented technician who can fix Angels rather handily. He's quite efficient and somehow manages to keep everything running smoothly, despite constantly muttering about the unfairness of his workload. He generally hates to be bothered, especially with anything outside of his job description.
Despite his short stature—he's about as tall as the Waitress—he manages to be more than threatening enough to keep most people out of his way, at least until they realize his bark is worse than his bite. Thirty-three years old, he has short dirty blonde hair and brown eyes.

Clerk's Narrative
"I wasn't always a clerk. I used to be a Deus myself—my Angel was named Gloria. She and I, we fought a lot of battles together. She wasn't fast, but she was strong. We weren't the best around, and we lost a lot, but we got better and finally managed to make it to the Angelic Layer Championships.
"Back then, tournaments were set up in teams—you belonged to a certain club's team, and that club went up against other clubs to go into the team finals. We went up against a team that called themselves 'The Fallen Angels'; they were like nothing I had ever seen before. They looked normal from a distance, but the looks in their eyes..." He shuddered involuntarily, and his eyes had a faraway look to them. "They didn't care about anything but victory. Our team watched them battle, and the Fallen Angels won every single match. They didn't lose a single one. And after every match, they would just leave, without saying a word. And the aura they held around themselves said that the team they were battling was so below them that they weren't even worth talking to.
"Well, I was up first, and the Angel I faced was like no one I'd ever seen. Her defense was impenetrable; I didn't even knock her HP down by one point!" The clerk shook his head, disbelieving even after all these years. "She wasn't very fast, but neither was Gloria. I would attack, and she would defend; but whenever she would land a hit it would send Gloria flying. And something was happening to her—whenever my opponent hit Gloria, she moved slower and slower, and her attacks got weaker and weaker. By the middle of the match I could see sparks on her arms and along her spine, and she was barely moving. And it hurt! I couldn't understand it, so we didn't give up." He closed his eyes in remembered pain, letting out a long sigh as he sat back in his chair. "Maybe it would have been better if I did.
"Gloria just kept getting worse. Finally, she stopped blocking and ran at her. I tried to make her block, but she couldn't respond fast enough...She picked up her up and slammed her into the ground, over and over, and I couldn't stop her. With the final blow, there was an audible crack.
"I tried for two weeks straight to fix her, to repair all the damage that Angel had inflicted. I wouldn't leave my room, and I only slept and ate when my body forced me to. But it was no use; the circuitry system was so badly damaged that she would never move again. ...I couldn't fix her." The grief in his eyes was pure and unfeigned, even after such a long time. "And I refused to get a new Angel because even if I made the Angel with the same stats and the same name—it would never be Gloria."
He paused for a moment before continuing, "There isn't much more to tell. I refused to create another Angel, but I loved Angelic Layer too much to fall out of touch with it, and I was rather good at repairing Angels—or so they said." His eyes looked bitter, and his thought was easy to read: I wasn't good enough for Gloria... Then he continued, "So I became a clerk. But there was another reason I stayed in the world of Angelic Layer—and that was to track down the Fallen Angels. I wanted revenge, like anyone would. And the people over there," He pointed a finger in their direction, eyes hard, "are very similar. Not the same; their aura is different. They're not arrogant, just self-confident and focused. Not entirely cruel...except for that one there." His eyes picked out Calias easily. "And I won't say one of them doesn't look familiar. I don't know much, but I do know that this is the best lead I've ever gotten."
Then he smiled bitterly. "But what can I do? I don't have an Angel, and I can't exactly go over there and beat them up. Not only would I lose my job—I'm only one person, by myself." He got up, his joints groaning faintly. "Well, I better go help out that waitress before she blows up the place—" He walked away from the group, heading towards the counter.
